The town looked like it was made of tiny little ginger bread houses.

Christmas lights started popping up everywhere in this pretty little town, still quiet.

All of a sudden there were lots of people around. Porvoo is a real Christmas town with three Christmas Openings and many different markets and events. But there is a sense of calm and peacefulness in the town, even when there are people gathering together.

One evening we got a snow blizzard. I went out with my snowshoes.
The whole town was empty. I was alone. At least I thought so...

There is something quirky or extraordinary about this town.
I don't know if it is sacred. Or if it is eerie. But it definitely is fascinating.

During the holidays we had some relatives visiting us. One night I woke up to the feeling that someone is staring at me. There was a shadow next to my bed. The only light in the room was the light reflecting from her white blouse. Her long hair was hanging down on her cheeks and she was slowly swaying back and forth. Then she started playing an imaginary piano.

She was sleepwalking, just as I used to do often when I was young. But I was in a shock. She scared the hell out of me. I had never seen anyone sleepwalk before.
"Perttu, wake up", I was poking my husband. "She is sleepwalking. I don't know what to do." "Take her back to bed." "How?"
After awhile of gathering myself together I took this sweet little girl by her hand and walked her back to her room. She curled up to her bed and continued sleeping.
But I didn't. I didn't sleep much that night, I was afraid she would scare me again after I would fall asleep. After that night I stopped looking for the old tales about eerie things that happened in Porvoo Old Town. My relatives are scary enough :-)
